Hi guys! Time for a Gunpla review! I had fun building and detailing him, he is RX-121-1 Gundam TR-1 Hazel Custom. MS details here: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/RX-121-1_Gundam_TR-1_Hazel_Custom
Front of the box: Torso parts:
Head unit parts:
Shield and beam rifle parts:
Left arm parts:
Right arm parts:
Left leg parts:
Right leg parts:
Waist unit parts:
Then fast forward to after building and detailing him.. TADA!:
He’s pretty neat for an HG kit, lots of details and comes with clear decal stickers too! I actually for got to take a photo of the other shield parts, he comes with two shields, the other one is bulkier that can be attached at his back:
He has a single beam saber only.. that’s sad.. because I’m a fan of dual beam sabers XD
He can reach for the hilt attached to his backpack.. =3 that’s a plus! Its nice that his arms are double jointed enabling him to bend more than usual HG kits.
This is where the bulky shield can be attached, you can move it 90 degrees downward to attach the shield:
And here he is holding the bulky shield:
The problem with the clear decal stickers is….
You have to cut them a little so that the above photo does not happen, the stickers edges won’t stick to angled surface.
I like the bulky shield, makes him look more dependable XD
Here’s the smaller shield:
Ägain with the clear stickers.. doesn’t really go well with angled or curved surfaces.. 😦
Now he’s holding his beam rifle:
I painted some details on the rifle using metallic grey, maybe I should have used copper or gold instead.. hmm.. XD And oh! You must have noticed that his fingers are red! It was a pain to paint the small hands, but I pulled it off anyway with a small brush and lots of light and of course, steady hands XD
Now for articulations:
His legs can go about on the photo below: Knees have less articulation because of the large contraption behind his legs.
He can’t split..
I painted metallic grey on the small square thingy on his foot:
Then some yellow on that small part on the right side of his right leg and some copper on the front on the small tube like part:
Copper too on the small circle on his knee:
All the inner joints and inner frame parts I painted Gun Metal:
For his waist, the front skirts are of single joint so they move at the same time, side skirts can be moved too:
Beam rifle magazines are attached to both side skirts: Here is the back of his waist unit, nice colorful clear decal sticker there:
Painted yellow the ‘v’ in front of the waist:
His arms can be fully bent up to his shoulders as it is double jointed:
You can see the other moving joints here:
A nice titans decal on his right shoulder armor:
Forgot to paint the small vents on his shoulders.. ah well.. XD
There is a shield holder that can be attached at the back of his fore arm so that the shields can be easily attached by “slotting” it as you can see below:
His torso cannot fully rotate 360 because of his back skirt blocking movement.
Painted the small rectagular part yellow, should’ve been green but got no green paint as of now and I’m lazy to mix XD
Painted the thrusters gun metal then some of the inner parts yellow:
Painted red the small tube part on the front of his torso:
He has a pretty interesting head unit.. much detail:
Looking at the whole MS:
I had fun building this kit, he has a lot of places to panel line and detail. No problems in building him, though the clear stickers are annoying when they detach themselves XD
Things I like about this kit:
1. Nice bulky design, I like bulky MS
2. Quite a lot of detail for an HG kit, though some parts are still of wrong color.
3. Easy build, no complications.
4. Hands to hold the weapons are stable.
5. The shield holder is a nice idea, stable attachment for the shield.
6. Arms can bend a lot because of double joint.
Things I don’t like:
1. Just the clear stickers.. have to cut them to size to prevent the rolling up of the stickers.
Well that’s it for Hazel Custom’s review! till next time! =3
Nice job on the painting! I think it’s still a good kit by today’s standards.

You must be feeling very sad whenever you look at those clear stickers. They can be pretty annoying. Trimming them is a hassle, specially with my shaky hands, but even though you did, they aren’t really friendly.

Yes they’re very annoying XD water slide decals are still the best! 😀

Nice clean build 🙂
This kit was released so many years ago, but I think this is still much better compared to some of the newly released kits.

Sorry to comment on so old post, but I just finished my build of the hazel here: http://panzercraft.com/2016/01/26/rx-121-1-gundam-tr-1-hazel-custom-2/
I used some of your pictures as a reference for the detail painting and decal positioning. Wanted to thank you for posting those, as they were really helpful to me!
