RG 1/144 MSM-07S Z’Gok

Hello viewers! I present to you my 3rd Real Grade kit after 3 years! The first two kits that I posted in this blog 3 years ago was RG Aile Strike and RG Zaku II, man that was a long time. I planned to collect all the RG kits years ago, but I haven’t followed through, anyway, RG kits still amaze me, I have to buy more of these kits. I just wish MG kits have this level of detail.

This mobile suit is Char Aznable’s Z’Gok as obviously denoted by the color of the suit; a nice combination of red tones. The MS is pretty simple but looks good on display. Everybody loves a mono-eyed mobile suit right? right?!? XD Okay not everybody, but you have to admit, there is some kind of appeal mono-eyed mobile suits have.

Enjoy the photos!:

Things I don’t like about this kit:

1. Knee armor is a bit loose, that’s the only minor problem.

Thing I like about this kit:

1. Details are amazing

2. Clear stickers/decals are a lot.

3. Articulation is at its best.

4. The mono-eye can be moved.

5. Realistic propellers are included that is on the bottom of his feet and his backpack though I forgot to take photos of those.

6. Different tones of red for his armor

7. Has an inner frame as all RG does anyway.

That’s it! I definitely recommend this kit to all fellow Gunpla hobbyists! Till next time! 🙂

HG 1/144 YAMS-132 Rozen Zulu

Hello viewers and fellow hobbyists! At last I am done with Rozen Zulu! My first gunpla with heelsHand-painting the white detail lines were hard!

Things I did in this kit:

1. The usual snap-fit build and nib mark cleaning, nib marks were a lot! And were very visible due to the color of the plastic (darker colored plastic shows more plastic stress marks)

2. Hand-painted the white detail lines, I did not do anything fancy like reverse wash. I just searched for the finest brush that I could find and hand-painted the white lines. It’s not perfect but it’s good enough for me, I’ll try a reverse wash next time.

3. Applied water slide decals. I have lots of extra water slide decals lying around, instead of it gathering dust, better to use them right?

4. Applied battle damage through my proprietary “burning a toothpick method”. :p

5. Applied light weathering using dry-brushing. Just some simulated paint scratches using Flat Aluninum.

6. Added some paint details like copper on battle damage areas.

7. Panel lining of course.

8. And lastly, sprayed a top coat using Bosny Clear Dull.

And without further adieu, I present to you HG 1/144 YAMS-132 Rozen Zulu! (Did they really intend the model number to be YAMS? reminds me of a local root crop in my country which is purple yam or locally called ‘Ube’)

You can find more information about the mobile suit here: http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/YAMS-132_Rozen_Zulu

Final Thoughts:

Things I don’t like about this kit:

1. Most of the parts are in the wrong purple color, it looks brown from afar, but when you look at it closely, it’s actually very very dark purple. But he turned out all right despite the wrong colors.

2. Standing stability is poor due to his small feet and the heels! XD

Things I like about this kit:

1. The whole MS design is cool! Almost all MS from the Unicorn series has superb designs!

2. Interesting color scheme.

3. The kit includes with the complete Psycho Jammer set along with stands for them (the floating flower-like thingies)

4. The kit includes the extending wire guided manipulators/INCOMs. (the claw-like hands)

5. Articulation is actually great despite that he looks a bit bulky.

6. Mono-eyed MS is always a plus for me.

That’s! Till next post! (probably another mono-eyed MS) 😀

A little background on the mobile suit: This mobile suit is actually a weapons pack/equipment variation for the original Gundam 00, he appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00V side story. His armaments include 2x GN Beam Saber, GN Buster Sword II, 2x GN Katar, GN Sword II Blaster, GN Sword II Long and GN Sword II Short.

GN Beam Saber:

DSC_4025

GN Sword II Blaster:

A new weapon developed for 00 after the final battle with the Innovators. It was first seen being field tested with the 00, and is said to focus more on long-range firing than close-range melee. The “G”, which stands for “Gun”, added to the Seven Sword’s model number is a direct reference to the addition of this new weapon. The blade presumably uses the same Condenser edge concept that was first experimented with on the GN Katars and was later perfected on the GN Sword III. Unlike other weapons on the Seven Sword/G, this one was adjusted specifically for Setsuna, who is an Innovator. As a result, it can snipe a target 1000km away while in Trans-Am. (Gundam Wiki)

GN Buster Sword II:

A massive melee weapon with top class destructive power, it is attached to the solar furnace of the left shoulder, and has 2 modes of operation, a sword or a shield. In its “keep” state, a.k.a. shield mode, a large omni-directional GN Field is generated. From the scope of the GN field emission, it appears to also be able to protect nearby allies. This weapon is developed by Ian Vashti after he analyzed the GN Buster Sword of GN-X II that was captured by Fon Speak. During the testing of the updated Seven Sword/G, the Buster Sword II was also installed with the same stabilizer equipment that was used on the 0 Raiser to stabilize the Twin Drive System. GN Sword II Long and Short:

Long:

Mounted on the right of the waist, it has an enhanced rifle mode compared to the currently adopted GN Sword II. Conversely, it also has decreased rapid fire capability and increased particle consumption. It’s equipped with the premise of the complete operational Twin Drive System, though appears to be operable at some level even without it. During 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G’s first launch, its performance was directly being compared to the GN Sword II Blaster. (Gundam Wiki)

Short:

Mounted on the left of the waist, the GN Sword II was developed as a projectile weapon to replace the GN Beam Dagger which Setsuna often used when piloting Exia. The tip part of the sword is attached to a wire, and can be shot out and retracted as many times as needed.

GN Katar:

Medium sized swords mounted on the add-on parts at both knees. The cutting edges are made of the material developed from those that are used in GN condensers. As the GN particles change to heat, the heat is transferred to whatever is in contact at the moment. With this feature, it is theoretically possible to attack at high temperatures that cannot be endured by the material of the GN Katar. While these weapons are in the prototype stage and are very unstable, the experimental concept that it uses was eventually perfected and became a standard for many powerful GN Sword designs that came after it. Actual confirmation of the GN Katars’ flaws being fixed is still absent at this point, though it should be noted that Condenser blade technology has been successfully implemented without issues on other weapons by this time. And that’s it for this project!

Summary:

What I like about this kit:

1. Many armaments.

2. LED lighting compatible that can be installed on the cockpit, on the twin GN drives and on the GN Buster Sword II. (Though I haven’t acquired one to try out on this kit, maybe next time)

3. One of the coolest looking MS on my display.

4. GN Buster Sword II.

What I don’t like about this kit:

1. The pegged hands! Weapon handling is very poor, had a hard time posing with the heavy weapons, even with the smaller weapons it was hard. Thumbs keep popping out, fingers keep falling off.

2. Small feet allows decreased stability and posing, but then again, this MS spends most of its battle time in space.

3. Arm and leg articulation is below average for an MG kit IMO.

HGBF 1/144 Gundam Wing Fenice

Introduction:

Hi guys! Now here is a kit from the Build Fighters anime series! Upon watching the anime series, I got pumped up and wanted to buy the kits featured in the series. Too bad most of the kits that I want like Kampfer Amazing and Zaku Amazing were not available at my local hobby store, only Wing Fenice was available and he is good enough for me. Though it would have been better if I also got the meteor hopper, but someone else beat me to it.

MG 1/100 Strike Rouge + Ootori

DSC_3222

Introduction:

Hi guys! At last I have accomplished my latest project: MG 1/100 Strike Rouge + Ootori, with light weathering, battle damage and hand painted details. This kit was bought last year and he’s one of the newest MGs that Bandai recently released. Obviously the attention catcher is his Ootori and its different color scheme! It’s different from the usual Aile Strike. I personally like the color scheme that is “Rouge”.

I remember wanting to buy the RG kit of Stike Rouge, but since the RG kit was a limited edition, he was more expensive than the usual RG and was priced higher than this MG kit of Strike Rouge. I was glad Bandai made an MG release of the Strike Rouge that is not limited edition.

At first I only planned to straight build this kit and just apply panel lining and the decals, but I wanted my Strike Rouge to look nice so I decided to do a bit of light weathering and battle damage (and not overdo it) and make him look more awesome. I hope I did the trick because It’s been a while since I did battle damage and weathering. All painted details are hand painted using Tamiya brand acrylic paints in bottle.

Summary of what I did:

1. Straight build and cleaning of nib marks using X-Acto hobby knife.

2. Hand painted details using Tamiya acrylic paints.

2. Panel lining using 0.05 Copic Multiliner and Black Enamel paint.

3. Applied decals and clear stickers.

4. Applied battle damage using multiple burnt toothpicks.

5. Applied weathering using Copper, Black, Flat Platinum acrylic paints.

6. Top coated with Bosny Flat/Dull Clear.

The primary pilot of Strike Rouge is the Princess of Orb Cagalli Yula Athha. It was built using spare parts from the original Aile Strike and is also equipped with a Strike Pack (Ootori). She is also equipped with Phase Shift armor that makes its armor look red and pink in its active state. (Gundam Wikia)

Let us first take a closer look at the individual parts: (Caution! This post is photo heavy! Might take time to load all photos.)

Body Unit:

DSC_1975

Some pieces were missed out in this photo though.

My advice to those who are going to get this kit is to be careful of the front armor as you can see in the above photo on the lower left corner. That part has a thin connection with the middle portion of the armor such that if you held the piece with enough pressure, you’ll break it, and I almost did. XD

DSC_3069

The front part can be opened to reveal the pilot in the cockpit as most MG has this feature. I will show this in the later photos.

Left and Right Arm:

DSC_1978

I miss the old MG hands with individual fingers parts with a peg on the palm, though weapons are more stable to handle using these new MG hands but sometimes they are a hassle to change since not one hand configuration is compatible with all weapons. If you want his fingers spread out for a certain pose, you need to change the hand part.

I painted the elbow joint with a bit of Gold Lead, Chrome Silver and Copper.

Man, It’s pretty obvious I had fun with this kit. This is one of the most enjoyed kits that I built!

To sum up as I always do,

What I like about this kit:

1. Color scheme. Love the feminine touch since the pilot is a female anyway. Yay to flower power!

2. Articulation is satisfying, waist unit does not hinder so much the leg articulation.

3. The Ootori Striker. Its awesome and has a lot of added armaments.

4. The kit contains a stand for the Ootori and the Strike Rouge.

5. Default panel lines are satisfying.

6. Decal count were more than what I expected since this is not a ver. Ka kit. And the decal designs are nice, lots of extra clear stickers too!

7. Not back heavy despite the Ootori’s size, he can stand and pose pretty stable even with its Ootori Striker installed. No problems in balancing.

Things I did not like about this kit:

1. Hmm.. Just the damn new MG hands I guess, I find it a hassle to change the hand parts every now and then just to be able to handle a different weapon or a different pose. But I guess the new MG hands makes weapons handling more stable than the old MG hands. Maybe if they could combine the old and the new MG hands, then I would be happier. 🙂

Thanks for reading! Till next post! 🙂

HG 1/144 RX-93-V2 Hi-V Gundam

DSC_1931 copy

Hi guys! I present to you HG 1/144 RX-93-V2 Hi-V Gundam! This was in my backlog for ages! Glad I have accomplished him.

Things I did in this kit:

1. In this kit, I have not done any sanding and just relied on my X-Acto hobby knife to clean out the nib-marks. I decided to do this method to see the difference between a sanded kit versus an un-sanded (just using the hobby knife to clean nib-marks) kit. Sanding parts require a lot of time and effort whilst just using the hobby knife consumes less time and also less effort. The results are acceptable if you want to clean nib-marks faster, but if you want a more flawless work, it’s got to be sanding.

2. I hated the default blue color of the plastic material so I airbrushed the blue parts using Tamiya Sky Blue. Ofcourse I primed the blue parts first using a light grey primer.

3. Basic panel lining and matte coat.

And that’s it! Enjoy the photos! Oh! And I included a gift from my best friendMini Danbo (that included a feature where his eyes light up!) in some the photos, Just click one of the images below to open the gallery:

Things I like about this kit:

1. Lots of lines to mark for an HG kit.

2. Articulation is good for an HG kit.

3. The funnels on his back.

4. Shield design.

Things I don’t like about this kit:

1. The default blue color of the blue parts.

2. Weapons are kind of meh.

3. Back heavy, hard to pose.

4. Clear stickers.. we all know why.. But I still put them on the kit anyway.

Till next post! Thanks!

Hi guys! It’s been a while, I’ve been busy with a small business that I have put up. Anyway, here I present HG 1/144 Zaku III! Nothing fancy, it’s an old kit I’ve picked up a long time ago, it was produced year 1999 same as my MG Rick DomIts just a straight build and some simple panel lining, nothing more.
